Aircraft Maintenance Technology

The AS Degree and Diploma are accredited programs provided by Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology designed to teach students the technical skills required to become entry-level airframe and power-plant technicians or obtain employment in related professions.

The hybrid course is delivered partially through distance online education and partially on-ground. It is designed to enable individuals to take the distance education portion of the course for the first 13-16 months (depending on if they are in the diploma or degree program). Once that portion is completed the lab work (hands-on training) portion of the program is completed on site in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Successful completion qualifies the graduates to take the written, oral and practical tests with the Federal Aviation Administration for the Mechanic's Certificate with both Airframe and Powerplant Ratings. The skills and knowledge gained from the diploma program are applicable to other maintenance industries and professions as well as aviation. The knowledge gained through the additional general education courses in the associate degree program enhance the students' background and intellectual proficiency so they are more competitive in their chosen professions.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

  • Laptop is pre-loaded and sent to you prior to first day of class
  • 13-16 months of Distance Education (16 months if you choose to take the Associate Degree courses via distance education as well)
  • Coursework is engaging and interactive including 3-D imagery to help you to learn technical skills
  • Can work "offline" and simply sync up periodically to send your coursework or communication with instructor and other students
  • Take 7 months of hands-on training at the Spartan College Tulsa, Oklahoma campus
  • Test to obtain your Airframe & Powerplant (A+P) Certification

CTS works with Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology to develop and host the E-Learning platform for the distance education portion of Spartan's Aviation Maintenance Technology Program.

As the first of its kind approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, this program allows students to take classes part-time online. Students receive a fully-loaded laptop with the course materials, which will allow them to complete the curriculum, even when deployed in remote locations without consistent internet access for periods up to three weeks. The program leads to a Diploma in Aviation Maintenance Technology and/or Associate of Applied Scence Aviation Technology Degree.
